We are pleased to offer GP appointments from 08.30 in the morning on a Monday and Tuesday starting from the beginning of September.
You may have recently been offered an appointment at a Medical Practice to see a GP or other healthcare professional in the evenings or weekends. This is part of a new service offered by South Downs Health and Care (SDHC). SDHC is an organisation set up by the GP practices of Eastbourne, Hailsham and Seaford (https://southdownshealthandcare.co.uk/p/member-practices/). It aims to improve the accessibility and sustainability of care you receive by providing a larger scale for operations that can span all practices. Evening and weekend appointments are now available to book via Reception. In order to utilise one of these appointments, you will be required to give consent for access to your notes to both read and add to them. This will ensure continuity and safety despite the likelihood that you will be seen in a different practice by a clinician who is new to you. Because the service has just begun, please bear with us while increase the availability of these appointments over the coming months.
See a GP by video with LIVI.
This practice now offers a video GP service – LIVI – to all our patients. To access the service, simply download LIVI from the App store (iphone) or Google Play (Android), and sign up. You can get medical advice, prescriptions and referrals by video, with appointments available on the same day, even at weekends.

Some patients are finding it difficult to book in for appointments. Please note we offer routine pre-bookable appointments up to 4-5 weeks in advance. Same day appointments are available from 8.30am for acute conditions and these can be booked online from 7am. Urgent appointments are for urgent clinical attention.
We also offer telephone consultations with a GP or with our Paramedic Practitioner.
Unfortunately we have a high number of "did not attend" patients - this is most disruptive to the Surgery and most frustrating to other patients who have been unable to get an appointment ! We do try very hard to educate patients not to "miss" their booked appointments or to let us know in advance if they are unable to attend so that the slot can be offered to another patient.
YOU CAN BOOK APPOINTMENTS ONLINE
PLEASE NOTE YOU WILL NEED A USERNAME AND PASSWORD TO ACCESS THIS SERVICE, WHICH IS OBTAINABLE FROM THE SURGERY - YOU WILL NEED TO REQUEST THIS IN WRITING AND INCLUDE A CURRENT EMAIL ADDRESS FOR THE REPLY.
ALTERNATIVELY of course you can ring and speak to a Receptionist to book your appointment - All consultations are by appointment.
We have always operated a prebookable appointment system whereby patients can make an appointment for up to (and often more than) four weeks in advance. We also offer same day appointments.
Pre-bookable appointments enable you to pre-book an appointment, for a day in the future, to see one of our doctors when he or she is in surgery. By the nature of this type of booking system, there may be a waiting period to see the doctor of your choice particularly at busy times of year. Therefore it is best to book your appointment as soon as you can in order to secure your preferred day and time.
Same day appointments enable you to book an appointment to see a doctor on that same day. The surgery opens its doors and phone lines at 08:30 and same day appointments are given out over the phone and at the reception desk on a first come, first served basis. We strongly encourage all patients to contact the surgery at this time if they would like to book a same day appointment. By the nature of these appointments, the telephone lines can be busy at 08:30 and a telephone queuing system is in operation.
We have medical emergency slots every day.
Please note, we may use your mobile telephone number to text you a reminder of your appointment. If you do not wish us to do this, please let us know in writing.
In a number of cases it might be worth considering an appointment with a practice nurse rather than a doctor. Practice nurses are qualified to deal with many ailments and you may be seen more quickly.
Sometimes a telephone call will avoid the need for a consultation. If you wish to speak to your doctor, please telephone the surgery and the receptionist will take a message and the doctor will return your call. Alternatively, you may be given a time to call back, when it is convenient to be put straight through to your own doctor.
If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else.
