Welcome to the University Medical Services. We are proud of you for having earned your place at University and are here to help and support you.
We offer medical services, as with previous years, at Trevin Towers on the University campus in Eastbourne.
Additionally, this has been a year of enormous change for us. We have created a ‘Digital First’ surgery inside the Beacon, the main shopping centre in Eastbourne. Through this we hope to give you much more convenient access to Doctors and nurses both digitally and in person. To back this up, should we need to, we have the full facilities of the massive, brand new, Victoria Medical Centre, our 30,000 patient practice in Old Town.
We are providing the university population with a service that is easy to access and responsive through our website via your phone or computer. You will be also be able to access e-consult through the NHS app which we recommend you download as this will enable you to order prescriptions, view results and your patient record.
This is a developing service and we want to know if it works for our practice population and any ideas for improvements. We welcome all feedback.
You can register with the practice using our secure online registration by clicking Here. Do not wait until you are unwell to register as this could delay your treatment.
The Practice is open Monday to Friday between 8.30am and 6.00pm. The phone lines open from 8.00am.
Please call 01323 407 900 to make an appointment, make sure you say you are a Brighton University Student.
If you are on regular medication your prescription will be ready for collection from the pharmacy of your choice. Please allow at least 2 working days and ensure that you have enough medication to cover any holiday periods. For more information regarding ordering your prescriptions please click Here
Out of Hours
If you become unwell “out of hours”, your first point of contact for emergency medical advice is the NHS 111 service (call 111). You will be given advice from a Doctor and if appropriate, be asked to attend the Accident & Emergency Centre at the Eastbourne District General Hospital.
If you need to see a GP when you return home during your holidays, please ask to be seen as a Temporary Resident. Please do not register as a permanent patient elsewhere, as you will need to complete the registration process with us again on your return to University.
Some students obtain work overseas during the long vacation. Organisations such as Camp America and CCUSA ask for a Medical Questionnaire and occasionally a Medical Examination. This service is over and above what is provided through the NHS and a charge will be made. Please email your forms to firstname.lastname@example.org for processing. We will need at least 10 working days to organise the completion of these forms and any examination that may be required.
